Good Morning Coffee Lovers,
If you are a local visitor to Brown and Jenkins coffee roasters then you may have noticed some subtle changes to the lay out of shelves when you walk into our roastery. That's because I'm trying to rearrange items to put more of a focus on the great local products that we offer. So I'm dedicating this coffee blog to those items.
Now that tour buses are rolling in, those things that so many of us who live in this part of the Green Mountain take for granted are suddenly in huge demand. So take a moment, as you sip your cup of Harvest Blend coffee this morning, to peruse the local products made right here in Vermont. These are some of my favorite local vendors:
- Gormlys is a natural, local creator of what it terms "casually gourmet" food items. I carry and love the Fancy Fruit & Berry Preserves and the Farmgirl Mocha Instant Cocoa mix.
- Claire's Country Garden has been providing us with jams, jellies and relishes for a couple of years now. You don't know jam until you try Claire's Habanero Wowser Pepper Jam! She delivers to me straight from Alburgh, Vermont.
- Vermont Cranberry Company is another local provider just down the street in Fletcher, Vermont. I love to cook and their cranberry maple flavored Pirate Island Sauce adds the unexpectedly delicious glaze to my meat dishes. Oh yes- don't forget to try the cranberry horseradish sauce.
Anyway, stocking the shelves with more local product is just one of my missions this month. Running an online and local Vermont coffee roaster is a demanding business that I simply adore!
Until our next cup,
Sandy Riggen
