Want to Meet for Coffee?

Meeting friends over an aromatic and steamy cup o' Joe has always been one of my favorite ways to bond with new friends and reconnect with old ones. Now that my husband Rich and I have been operating the Brown and Jenkins Trading Company and providing roasted gourmet coffees from our location in rural Vermont- I get to do this almost very day!

You visit this blog because you too have some fondness for gourmet coffee, or maybe just the coffee connection that goes along with sharing a perfect brew with friends. Let's consider this our coffee break together. I'll share with you details of our lives, our business, coffee tips and news on what you should try.

Got a cup of coffee? Then let's chat!

History of Brown and Jenkins

The Brown and Jenkins Trading Company was started in 1984 by Ken Brown and Carol Jenkins. (Yes, this is our 25th anniversary!) They had a table top roaster and ran a print catalogue and mail order business over on Pine Street in Burlington, Vermont. Eventually, the business grew so large that they had to expand into a warehouse behind the Burlington airport. At some point a couple of brothers-in-law, Glenn Gayle and Jay Machaud, took over the business until 2006. That's when my husband Rich Williams and I stepped in.

The short version is that we decided to move the operation to this little slice of heaven in northern Vermont, and we've never looked back. Now we're in Cambridge, nestled in the Green Mountains, and spend each day roasting, selling and sharing the coffee we love.

Until our next cup,

Sandy Riggen

  1. I'm glad we stumbled upon your shop today off of Route 15. Moving from NYC, it's great to see passionate roasters up here in my new home of VT.

Thanks for being so welcoming and allowing us to stroll around your shop and check out all the great coffee.

Happy 25th anniversary! Looking forward to enjoying much coffee and visits again to your shop once we've settled in VT.
